Highlands duplex wall & landscape

We recently started a project in the highlands area of Denver and were presented with the task of creating a landscape that would be functional, and still create an environment that our client could effectively use.  This home is a duplex so we wanted to create something that would distinguish the two separate homes, yet not ruin the character of the complex.  A retaining wall also needed to be built to address the slope of the front yard, and the erosion issues.

After the initial demo of the yard, we needed to sleeve under the sidewalk and run our irrigation lines for the sprinkler system.  Once this was done, we were able to start building our wall.

In the backyard we built a beautiful stamped and colored concrete ashler patio & walkway to the garage out out to the alley.  We also built a fence to replaced the dated chain-link fence and add a bit of privacy.  The plant material selected in this landscape will soften the fence and give a bit of texture to the yard.  Keeping a large grass area for the dog was key in the project, so we maximized the amount of backyard grass.
